Fiji Weddings

The romance of the tropics… Fiji holidays have long been a favourite destination for honeymooners and couples and it's becoming increasingly popular for weddings or the re-affirming of vows. It's very simple and cost effective to arrange a wedding in Fiji, and we can do all the leg-work for you.  You can choose from modern international resorts or smaller more intimate islands because this tropical paradise has a resort just right for you. Some resorts will help you arrange your wedding either in traditional Fijian style or the white wedding of your dreams.

In order to marry in Fiji you will need original or certified copy of birth certificates, passports, decree absolute (divorce papers) if relevant, death certificate of deceased former spouse (if relevant) and couples under 21 years of age are required to produce a consent document signed by a parent.

You’ll also need a confirmatory letter on current status to be obtained from the Marriage Registry where the applicant resides or statutory declaration signed by a Justice of Peace or Notary Public or Solicitor to prove that he/she has not entered into a marriage before (this declaration applies to first or second marriage).

You are also required to present yourself together at the Registry Office when applying for the licence which can be obtained within one working day. This must be done in Fiji. Registry offices are in Suva, Nadi, Sigatoka or Lautoka. If marrying at Namale Resort registration must be at Savusavu. Registration offices are open between 9.00am and 3.00pm Monday through Friday. Registration formalities take about 20 minutes.  The fee is approximately FJD$20.00 and the license is valid for 21 days.

All ministers in Fiji belong to a certain church there are no nondenominational ministers. For Catholic weddings the requirements include a letter of Freedom sent well in advance, approximately 2-3 months out, to the Fijian Priest along with the Baptism Certificate. Your normal pre-wedding studies must be completed with a letter from your priest.

There are a number of resorts which offer Fiji wedding packages which typically include escort and transfers to the registry office to obtain a license,  minister or marriage celebrant,  registration and documentation fee,  wedding co-ordinator, preparation and decoration of the wedding venue , tropical flower Leis (garlands),  sparkling wine for toasts, romantic dinner and a special gift from the resort .
